İsimlerden önce sıfat olarak kullanıldığında isme vurgu katar. Derecelendirme yapmaz.

Very Non-Gradable olan sıfatlarla kullanılamaz. Aşağıda bulunan tablolarda sol sütunda bulunan Gradable sıfatların karşısında Non-Gradable halleri verilmiştir.

FAIRLY

Tamlamalarda isim tekil ise “a/an” “fairly”den önce kullanılır.

QUITE

“Quite” zarflarla, sıfatlarla ve fiillerle genellikle olumlu olarak “oldukça” anlamında kullanılır.
Tamlamalarda isim tekil ise “a/an” “quite”dan sonra kullanılır.

I really need quite a silent room.

Quite olumsuz cümlede kullanıldığında genellikle “tam olarak” anlamı taşır.

“Quite” isimlerle de genellikle “vurgu” katmak için kullanılır.

RATHER
As a Conjunction
“Rather” cümleyi niteleyen zarf olarak kullanıldığında veya arkasından sadece isim aldığında zıtlık görevi görür.
Bu durumda “daha ziyade” şeklinde çevrilir. Karşılığı “instead” olarak verilebilir.
